At the far end of Bredgade, the straight streets of Eigtved's Frederikstad are replaced by the green open spaces of Churchillparken and Kastellet. There is a distinct military feel to this part of the city, with both the Resistance Museum, detailing Denmark's struggles against the Nazis during World War II, and the Kastellet, Europe's oldest working fort, situated here. Nearby is that enduring symbol of the city, the Little Mermaid.
