Cutty Sark

This majestic vessel is a survivor of the clippers that crossed the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in the 19th century. Launched in 1869 as a tea carrier, it was something of a speed machine in its day, winning the annual clippers' race from China to London in 1871, in a time of 107 days. It made its final voyage on the high seas in 1938 and was put on display here in 1957. On board you can see where the merchant seamen slept, ate, worked and pursued their interests.
