James and Marie-Jose Hamel are an exceptionally friendly couple who take great pleasure in welcoming guests to their manor home. Originally a fortress dating from the 12th-century, Le Château was rebuilt in 1450 and again in 1750 and has a colorful history. The Hamels are fond of recounting the story of their most famous visitor, Andy Rooney of Sixty Minutes fame. Rooney worked here as a journalist during World War II when the château was inhabited by the American Press Corps and revisited in 1984.
