Residents of San Gimignano still call this a Duomo (cathedral), even though it was demoted to a "Collegiata" after the town lost its bishop. Don't judge this book by its cover, though: It may be plain and austere on the outside, dating for the 12th century, but it is richly decorated inside. Actually, the facade for some reason was never finished.
