In a building just outside the Akershus Slott entrance is the Hjemmefrontmusuem; its location is particularly apt as captured Resistance fighters were tortured and sometimes executed in the castle by the Gestapo. The museum's mostly pictorial displays detail the history of the war in Norway, from defeat and occupation through resistance to final victory.
